Introduction

Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai (BITZH) is a private undergraduate institution in Tangjiawan, Zhuhai, Guangdong, approved by the Ministry of Education in 2004. It was founded jointly by Beijing Institute of Technology and a private partner and is supervised by the Guangdong Department of Education. Teaching focuses on engineering, information technology, design, international business, management and foreign languages, with an applied, industry-facing orientation. It is a national training base for international-business talent and a member of the CDIO engineering-education alliance. Its Greater Bay Area location gives students strong exposure to manufacturing, electronics and cross-border trade employers.

History

BITZH was established in 2004 as an "independent college" linked to Beijing Institute of Technology, part of a wave of public-private undergraduate colleges created in China in the early 2000s to expand access. It built a large modern campus in Zhuhai's Tangjiawan university district. National policy has since pushed such colleges toward full independence; the institution's registration status and possible transition should be confirmed directly.

Campus & facilities

The Zhuhai campus is large and landscaped, set against hills near the coast in the Tangjiawan higher-education cluster alongside branch campuses of other major universities. Facilities include engineering and design studios, IT and electronics laboratories, sports grounds and extensive on-campus student accommodation. Zhuhai is adjacent to Macau and a short sea or road link from Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
